A Musical Journey from Gospel to Soul to Funk and Hip Hop

Decription:
Gospel music partly evolved from songs slaves sang on plantations; mostly work songs and the protestant hymns they sang in church. As gospel became more popular and lead singers began to develop solo careers, they melded their gospel style vocals with secular lyrics, which in turn came to be known as soul or R&B music. When DJ Herc put 2 turntables together in 1974, we see the full musical journey from Gospel to Hip Hop. Drop-in $30, Space PermittingNo Session April 24 & May 22
