West End Kids Care (5-12 yrs)

Our Philosophy

​West End Community Centre Association strives to provide high quality, accessible child care to children and families in the community. We are committed to providing a program that respects the specific needs of the child, and we honour each child’s right to grow and develop at his or her own rate. Our goal is to assist children as they interact with each other and the world around them so that they grow to become healthy, caring, and responsible persons. We value and celebrate diversity and promote the development of skills such as problem solving, tolerance and teamwork.

Program Description

Our Kids Care is a diverse program that is a reflection of our staff and our community. The program is licensed for children ages 5-12.
At the West End we organize programs based on the ages and developmental stages of the children. The programs are as follows:

• • Before & After School Care for children attending Lord Roberts Elementary School only

We are a play based program where the children will participate in a variety of activities set up in different centres. Activities may include but are not limited to:

• • Arts & crafts
  • Homework
  • Reading
  • Physical activities
  • Games
  • Nutrition and snack (provided by the program)

While the days are kept flexible, some activities such as snack times are typically done as a group. Staff will work with families to establish routines that meet the needs of the children, the family and the Program.

There are many programs offered at the West End Community Centre, if your child is enrolled in one, staff will be available to take your child to and from these classes.

The program runs September to June. Your monthly fees DO NOT include Winter or Spring Break. Our program does not operate during these school breaks; however, the Community Centre does offer day camps. Registration is done at the front office and should be done as soon as registration is open since there are limited spaces, and it is open to the public. Our program does not run in the Summer. The Community Centre runs a program which you can register for.
