This class offers you and your dog the opportunity to practice essential everyday skills?such as sit, down, stay, polite walking, and leash-handling?through a variety of engaging games that make learning enjoyable for both of you. While the main focus is on having fun, these activities are intended to strengthen your bond and encourage your dog?s obedience skills. If you and your dog missed out on puppy classes, or if you?ve recently adopted a rescue dog and want to build a strong foundation together, this class is a great fit. We use positive, reward-based methods?including food, praise, and play?guided by scientifically informed learning principles to support your dog?s progress and build confidence. Registration closes 3 business days before class. If you miss the deadline, contact West End CC?late enrolments are rarely accepted, but we will review your request and let you know. There are no make-up sessions for missed classes. Please double-check your schedule before registering. For everyone?s safety, dogs must wear a flat buckle collar, front/back-clipped harness. Pinch, choke, or shock collars and retractable leashes are not allowed. Our goal is for every dog and person to have a positive, safe experience in class. For dogs who find group settings challenging due to reactivity or fearfulness, we recommend seeking specialized support. Because the community centre prioritizes safety for all participants, especially children, we?re not able to address these specific issues here.
