What rooms do you have available for rent?

At Coal Harbour Community Centre, we pride ourselves on having a whole range of wedding spaces available for rental. Over the years, we’ve found that the majority of our wedding guests rent the Multipurpose Room. This is the largest room that we have available for wedding rental. If you’re looking for an event space that has a more intimate feel, our other rooms are also available to rent.

How many people does the Multipurpose Room hold?

The Multipurpose Room at Coal Harbour has a maximum capacity of 100 standing guests and a seating capacity of 80.

What are the dimensions of the Multipurpose Room?

The wedding rental space is approximately 52’ x 39’ft.

What are the amenities for this wedding rental space?

If you’re renting the Multipurpose Room for your wedding, this space comes with hardwood, floors, a large outdoor patio, a top of the line stereo system, and a small kitchen.

The kitchen has a stove, oven, microwave, sink, and two fridges. One of the fridges is located beside the kitchen and is perfect for a drink/bar area. Unfortunately, the kitchen is only for storing, reheating, and preparing food—full cooking is prohibited.

Renters may bring in any caterer they wish—the Community Centre does not provide any food or beverage services. The centre also does not have tablecloths, place settings, cutlery, serving utensils, or kitchen items at the Community Centre, and linen service is not provided.

The patio can be used, but tables/chairs must be brought in by 10pm and everyone must be inside with doors closed by that time. This is a City of Vancouver by-law and non-negotiable.

What else is provided with the wedding rental?

Tables and chairs are provided with the rental. 15 round tables (60-inch diameter), 10 rectangular tables (6’ by 2.5’ feet), and 2 card tables are available. Renters are responsible for their own set-up and clean-up unless janitorial service is ordered (service for clean-up only).

Do we need a liquor license for our wedding?

If liquor is being served, it is the renter’s responsibility to apply for a special occasion license and the primary person serving must have Serving it Right. Visit Serving It Right for more information.

Can we play music at our wedding?

There is a stereo system that plays CDs or easily connects to a laptop, iPod, or other audio devices. The community centre has the connecting auxiliary cord.

There is also a podium, wireless microphone, projector, and projector screen available. All equipment is included in the rental price except the projector ($25/day).

How far in advance can we reserve the room?

The Multipurpose Room can be reserved up to a year in advance for your wedding or special event depending on the date and time. The typical time slot for weddings are Saturdays from 2:00pm – 1:00am (this includes time to set-up), but other times may be requested.

What are the wedding rental fees?

We believe that our pricing is competitive and offers our clients a high-end community centre wedding venue with incredible views for a very fair price.
