The West End Community Centre is looking for a reliable, hardworking, energetic, and responsible individual to join the Out of School Care Program on a part time basis.
Qualifications:
- Related work/volunteer experience with children, parents, and care-givers in a child care setting
- School Age Training Course or equivalent (minimum of 20 hours)
- Ability to work in a diverse community
- Strong communication skills
- Valid Child Care First Aid Certificate
- ECE License an asset
- Experience with Special Needs an asset
- Experience in day camp settings an asset
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Escorting children to and from school to the community centre
- Effectively communicating with fellow staff, school staff, parents, and children
- Educating parents/care-givers of proper procedures and protocol
- Ensuring safe supervision of children in the program
- Providing age-appropriate activities for participants
- Creating a fun & safe environment for all children
- Being familiar with licensing regulations and following all rules and regulations
Conditions of Employment:
- Clearance of a criminal record check
- Must have completed 20 hours School Age Training Course (or equivalent)
- Valid Child Care 1st Aid certificate
Terms of Employment:
- Hours of work: Tuesday am 7:00 am – 9:30 am, Tuesday & Friday 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
- Coverage for staff as a sub
- Potential for more hours in other programs
- Full days on school closure days
- Rate of Pay: $19.00/hr plus 4% in lieu of stats and 4% vacation paid out each pay period
- $4/hr Wage Enhancement Grant top up for ECE Licensed staff
