Home » Pottery: Mold Making with Plaster and Clay
In this workshop students will learn the basics of mold making for pottery, including making a one piece mold and a plaster batt for clay recycling. We will explore using clay to create shapes for reproduction that will then be cast in plaster, as well as casting found objects. Participants are encouraged to bring in objects that may be suitable for reproduction as a mold. Objects can include functional shapes such as bowls and plates, or sculptural pieces such as figurines and knick knacks. Students will learn to mix and pour plaster to create a custom mold that can be used to make repeating shapes in clay. No previous experience necessary, all materials provided. Please note: participants must bring their own respirator or N95 mask to work safetly with plaster.
